Sexual harassment at workplace

BE sacked and proceeded against under relevant laws. It is not about a profession or a specific stratum tempering with the chastity of hapless young women but the mentality we as a nation are at war with. See to this, if it was a clergyman, the entire mass media and the pseudo-journalists (arzan baya Journalists) leave no stone unturned in giving the issue coverage, demeaning the culprit and reaching out to the suppressed party. The keyboard warriors are, therefore, requested to reach out to the affected party and makes vids and films of her and give her due coverage so that her case is heard, culprit is tried and they (keyboard warriors) earn bucks. This is how one gets speedy justice in Pakistan which is very unfortunate.

Laws in respect of sexual harassment at workplace:

Government of Pakistan in 2010 not only enacted a special law for preventing sexual harassment at workplace but also amended section 509 of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC). Now it clearly defines harassment and includes harassment at workplace as well. It has also raised the maximum punishment for perpetrator from one to three years. Now under section 509 of Pakistan Penal Code, insulting the modesty of women or sexually harassing them, is a crime. The perpetrator of this crime may be punished with imprisonment, which may extend to 3 years or fine up to PKR 500,000 (5 lakh) or with both. However, this crime is still bailable and compoundable (parties can settle the case between themselves even when matter is in the court, after permission of the court).
