"Russia's aggression in Ukraine is a direct challenge to the international order that has kept Europe stable for decades. It must be met with a firm and united response from the international community." - Angela Merkel

The War on Ukraine:

According to the United Nations, the conflict in eastern Ukraine has caused an estimated 14 billion USD in damages, with approximately 4 billion USD in direct damage to infrastructure and 10 billion USD in losses to the economy. The total number of casualties in the war is estimated to be between 13,000 and 30,000, with over 1.5 million people estimated to have been internally displaced as a result of the conflict. The total number of deaths in the war is estimated to be between 9,000 and 15,000, with over 3,000 civilians killed over the course of the conflict. According to the United Nations, Russian forces have suffered an estimated 4,000 casualties in the conflict, including 2,000 dead and 2,000 wounded. According to the United Nations, Ukrainian forces have suffered an estimated 10,000 casualties in the conflict, including 6,000 dead and 4,000 wounded.

In September 2019, the Russian government proposed a four-point plan to resolve the conflict in eastern Ukraine. The plan calls for the implementation of a ceasefire, the withdrawal of foreign forces, the establishment of an international monitoring mission in the region, and the granting of greater autonomy to the Donetsk and Lugansk regions. On the other side, in June 2020, the Ukrainian government proposed a five-point plan to resolve the conflict in eastern Ukraine. The plan calls for a ceasefire, the withdrawal of foreign forces, the exchange of prisoners, the restoration of Ukrainian control over the region, and the establishment of an international peacekeeping mission in the region.

The two solutions proposed by both sides are not viable because of the lack of trust between the two sides and the lack of commitment from Russia to abide by the terms of any agreement. Additionally, both sides have differing views on the degree of autonomy that should be granted to the Donetsk and Lugansk regions, which makes it difficult to reach a compromise. The War on Ukraine is a conflict between the Ukrainian Armed Forces and pro-Russian separatists in the eastern regions of Ukraine. It began in April 2014, following the annexation of Crimea by the Russian Federation, and escalated with the Russian military intervention in Ukraine in February 2015. The war has claimed the lives of over 10,000 people, most of them civilians, and has displaced more than 1.4 million people. The conflict has also caused significant economic damage to both Ukraine and Russia. The war has resulted in a political and security crisis in the region, with Russia and Ukraine accusing each other of destabilizing the region and interfering in each other’s internal affairs. The conflict has been described as an “armed conflict of a hybrid nature”, with both sides accused of committing war crimes. The war has also caused a deep rift between Russia and the West, with the United States and the European Union imposing economic sanctions on Russia in response to its role in the war.

Who is oppressing whom and for what purpose?

The Russian Federation is the aggressor in the War on Ukraine because it invaded and annexed Crimea, and has been providing military support to pro-Russian separatists in eastern Ukraine. It has been accused of committing war crimes, and has been subject to economic sanctions by the United States and the European Union in response to its actions. Ukraine was a former part of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR). After the dissolution of the USSR in 1991, Ukraine became an independent nation.

"The war in Ukraine is a conflict based on lies and disinformation. It is a conflict that has been started and sustained by powerful leaders with a hidden agenda. It is a conflict that has only caused suffering and destruction. The war in Ukraine must end, and the people of Ukraine must be allowed to live in peace and security." - Barack Obama

The International Community, USA in particular, has believe that Russia is not right in reclaiming its former parts. The annexation of Crimea and the military intervention in eastern Ukraine constitute violations of international law, and have been condemned by the international community. The United States does not accept Russia's actions in Ukraine because it believes they violate international law and threaten the security of the region. The US has imposed economic sanctions on Russia in response to its actions, and has provided military and diplomatic support to Ukraine in order to help it defend itself against Russian aggression. However, the United States has also violated international law in the past. For example, the US invaded Iraq in 2003 without UN Security Council authorization, which was widely seen as a violation of international law. Meaning thereby that the USA pressure morally and ethically does not make Russian stop the assault.

The United States is intervening in the War on Ukraine because it believes that Russia's actions violate international law and threaten the security of the region. The US has imposed economic sanctions on Russia in response to its actions, and has provided military and diplomatic support to Ukraine in order to help it defend itself against Russian aggression.

The War that has severely impacted nearly the ENTIRE WORLD:

The War on Ukraine has had a significant impact on the international community. The conflict has caused a deep rift between Russia and the West, with the US and EU imposing economic sanctions on Russia in response to its role in the war. It has also caused a refugee crisis in the region, with more than 1.4 million people displaced. Finally, the war has caused significant economic damage to both Ukraine and Russia and has had a negative impact on the global economy.

The international community should approach this conflict by working together to find a peaceful resolution that is acceptable to both sides. The UN and other international organizations should continue to provide diplomatic and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine and other affected countries, and should also work to increase economic and political pressure on Russia to end its involvement in the conflict.

Can Russian be forcefully agreed to a cessation of hostilities?

The international community should continue to pressurize Russia to end its involvement in the conflict because it has violated international law and threatened the security of the region. Diplomatic negotiations should be used to try to reach a peaceful resolution, but it is also important to apply pressure on Russia to ensure that it is held accountable for its actions.

Russia is being threatened by the economic and political pressure that is being applied by the international community in response to its actions in Ukraine. If the conflict does not end soon, Russia could face further sanctions and increased diplomatic isolation from the international community. The economic sanctions imposed by the United States and the European Union on Russia in response to its actions in Ukraine have had a significant economic impact on Russia. The sanctions have caused a sharp decline in the value of the Russian ruble and have resulted in a decrease in foreign investment in the country.  Russia is being threatened by the economic and political pressure that is being applied by the international community in response to its actions in Ukraine. The sanctions have caused a sharp decline in the value of the Russian ruble, increased inflation, and decreased foreign investment in the country. Additionally, the threat of further sanctions and diplomatic isolation has caused Russia to take aggressive countermeasures, such as cutting off food and gas supplies to Ukraine and the rest of Europe. This has had a detrimental effect on the global economy, as it has caused disruption to global supply chains and increased uncertainty in the markets.

Peaceful Solution to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine:

The most effective peaceful solution to the War on Ukraine is for Russia and Ukraine to agree to a ceasefire and for the international community to work together to implement a comprehensive peace plan. This would involve providing support to Ukraine to help it rebuild its economy and infrastructure, while also addressing the underlying issues that led to the conflict in the first place. Additionally, it would involve further sanctions on Russia if it does not comply with the peace plan, as well as providing diplomatic and humanitarian assistance to the affected populations.
